How to distinguish between low-voltage and high-voltage lithium batteries

#01 Distinguishing by Voltage

The voltage of lithium battery is generally between 3.7V and 3.8V. According to the voltage, lithium batteries can be divided into two types: low voltage lithium batteries and high voltage lithium batteries. The rated voltage of low-voltage lithium batteries is generally below 3.6V, and the rated voltage of high-voltage lithium batteries is generally above 3.6V. Through the lithium battery table test can be seen, low voltage lithium battery voltage range of 2.5 ~ 4.2V, high voltage lithium battery voltage range of 2.5 ~ 4.35V, voltage is also one of the important signs to distinguish between the two.

#02 Distinguish by charging method

Charging method is also one of the important signs to distinguish between low voltage lithium batteries and high voltage lithium batteries. Usually, low-voltage lithium batteries use constant-current charging/constant-voltage charging; while high-voltage lithium batteries use a certain degree of constant-current charging/constant-voltage charging to ensure higher charging efficiency.

#03 Scenarios of use

High-voltage lithium batteries are suitable for occasions with high requirements on battery capacity, volume and weight, such as smart phones, tablet PCs and laptops, etc. Low-voltage lithium batteries are suitable for occasions with low requirements on volume and weight, such as power tools.

At the same time, the use of lithium batteries need to pay attention to the following matters:

1. In the process of use, you should use a specialized charger and pay attention to the parameters of charging voltage and current;

2. Do not force the lithium battery to short circuit, so as not to damage the battery and cause safety problems;

3. Don't choose batteries for mixed use, and should choose batteries with the same parameters for combined use;

4. When the lithium battery is not in use, it should be stored in a cool and dry location.
