Aerial photography in the silent dedication of lithium batteries

The lithium polymer batteries currently used for special photography are called lithium polymer batteries, often referred to as lithium ion batteries. Lithium polymer battery is a new type of battery with high energy density, miniaturization, ultra-thin, light weight, high safety and low cost.

In recent years, aerial photography by drones has gradually entered the public eye. With its unconventional shooting perspective, convenient operation and simple structure, it has won the favor of many image creation agencies and even entered the homes of ordinary people.

At present, the mainstream of aerial drones for multi-rotor, straight and fixed-wing, their structure determines the long flight is fixed-wing, but the fixed-wing takeoff and landing requirements are high, in flight can not hover and other factors are often only used in mapping and other image quality requirements of the industry is not high. Multi-rotor, straight aircraft, although the flight time is short, but can take off and land in complex terrain, smooth flight, can hover, good wind resistance, easy to operate, is currently the most used in the creation of images on the model. These two types of models in the power energy to use the battery-based, straight aircraft can also be powered by oil engines, but the mechanical vibration generated by oil and greater risk of flight greatly reduces its use. Thus the use of batteries is increasingly popular in unmanned aerial photography, a team equipped with a variety of batteries as little as a dozen, more than a few dozens, they work tirelessly to provide power for the motor, ESC, flight control, OSD, map, receiver, remote control, monitor and other electric components of the aircraft. In order to better and safer flight, to understand the parameters of the battery, use, maintenance, charging and discharging, etc., so as to ensure the smooth conduct of each aerial photography mission.

Let's take a look at the battery in aerial photography:

In terms of shape, lithium polymer battery has the characteristics of ultra-thin, can meet the needs of various products, made into any shape and capacity of the battery, the outer packaging aluminum plastic packaging, unlike the metal shell of liquid lithium-ion batteries, internal quality problems can immediately show the deformation of the outer packaging, such as swelling.

The voltage of 3.7V is the rated voltage of a single cell in a model lithium battery, which is obtained from the average working voltage. The actual voltage of a single lithium cell is 2.75~4.2V, and the capacity marked on the lithium cell is the power obtained by discharging 4.2V to 2.75V. Lithium battery must be kept in the voltage range of 2.75~4.2V. If the voltage is lower than 2.75V it is over discharged, the LiPo will expand and the internal chemical liquid will crystallize, these crystals may pierce the internal structure layer causing short circuit, and even make the LiPo voltage become zero. When charging the single piece of voltage higher than 4.2V is overcharging, the internal chemical reaction is too intense, the lithium battery will bulge and expand, if continue charging will expand and burn. So be sure to use the regular charger to meet the safety standards for battery charging, while strictly prohibited to the charger for private modification, which may cause very serious consequences!

Also prompt a point, remember: can not aerial photography power battery single cell voltage to 2.75V, at this time the battery has been unable to provide effective power to the aircraft to fly, in order to fly safely, can be set to a single alarm voltage of 3.6V, such as to reach this voltage, or close to this voltage, the flyer must immediately perform the return or landing action, as far as possible to avoid the battery voltage is insufficient to cause a bombing.

The discharge capacity of a battery is expressed as a multiple of (C), which is the discharge current that can be achieved based on the nominal capacity of the battery. Common batteries for aerial photography are 15C, 20C, 25C or higher C number of batteries. As for the C number, simply put, 1C is different for different capacity batteries. 1C means that the battery can continue to work for 1 hour with a discharge rate of 1C. Example: 10000mah capacity battery continues to work for 1 hour, then the average current is 10000ma, that is, 10A, 10A is the 1C of this battery, and then such as the battery labeled 10000mah25C, then the maximum discharge current is 10A * 25 = 250A, if it is 15C, then the maximum discharge current is 10A * 15 = 150A, from this can be seen The higher the C number, the higher the battery will be able to provide more current support according to the moment of power consumption, and its discharge performance will be better, of course, the higher the C number, the higher the price of the battery will also rise. Here we should pay attention to never exceed the battery charge and discharge C number for charging and discharging, otherwise the battery may be scrapped or burned and exploded.

In the use of the battery to adhere to the six "no", that is, not to charge, not to put, not to save the power, not to damage the outer skin, not to short circuit, not to cool. The correct use is the best way to extend the life of the battery.

At present, there are many brands and types of model lithium batteries, according to their own model electricity needs to choose the matching battery, so as to ensure the smooth operation of the electrical components. Do not buy some cheap batteries, and do not buy the battery cells to make their own batteries, and do not modify the battery. If the battery bulge, broken skin, undercharge and other problems, please stop using. Although the battery is a consumable, but it gives the flight silently provide energy, we have to spend time to pay attention to it, understand it, love it, in order to better and safer for each of our aerial photography mission service.
